About This Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority Cancer Care Program is seeking a General Practitioner in Oncology to join their dynamic interdisciplinary team. As a General Practitioner in Oncology, you will work in collaboration with specialists from various disciplines to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients. Your responsibilities will include providing outpatient care, managing cancer symptoms, and assisting in the accelerated workup of suspected cancer cases. You will also participate in oncology-related meetings and continuing medical education to stay current with the latest developments in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient care to cancer patients in various clinical settings.
  • Manage cancer symptoms and treatment-related adverse effects in collaboration with the specialist and healthcare team.
  • Assist in the accelerated workup of suspected cancer cases.
  • Participate in oncology-related meetings and continuing medical education.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must be eligible for certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Must maintain active Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage and have active hospital privileges at their designated site.

Other competencies include previous oncology training and experience, completion of GPO orientation, and commitment to ongoing professional education through attendance at educational conferences and other oncology-related learning opportunities.
