About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team. As a member of this team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management.

Key responsibilities include providing health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. You will also be required to collaborate with others to increase community capacity as an educator, researcher, and clinical practitioner.

This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. If you have a strong background in nutrition and a desire to make a positive impact in the community, we encourage you to apply.

About You
  • We are looking for a Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and a Dietetic internship.
  • Current Membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required.
  • Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license is also required.
  • Two years of clinical experience is preferred.
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada is also preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator is preferred.
  • Experience with group education is also an asset.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing is also an asset.
  • Exhibits creative problem-solving ability and ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet is required.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills are also essential.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours
  • This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

The hourly rate for this position is $32.94 - $43.42.
