Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining accurate records of products shipped and received. Pick and pack goods, develop shipping labels and documents, and ensure all orders are picked and packed correctly. Verify incoming shipments, ensure accuracy of goods matching shipping documents and purchase orders. Additionally, responsible for making deliveries as needed. This position requires operating a company vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional customer service via telephone and/or walk-ins, ensuring counters are properly stocked. Interact with customers, vendors, and associates to resolve customer-related and service-related issues.
  2. Act as a liaison between warehouse and customers; pick and pack goods to be shipped and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.
  3. Determine the method of shipment and prepare all required and supporting documentation. Ensure timely shipment of materials and customer satisfaction.
  4. Receive merchandise, check and sign delivery slips, and assist with unloading. Affix barcodes, tags, and security tags, and may operate a forklift, hand trucks, or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
  5. Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders or other documents, record shortages, and reject damaged goods.
  6. Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise. Make necessary verifications against documents, unpack, and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
  7. Maintain internal record-keeping systems. Contact transport companies and suppliers to expedite, trace, or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  8. Take inventory, maintain storage area, organize, and place stock on shelves. Ensure the area is secure at all times.

Nature and Scope

  1. Select the correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seek advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from a supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
  2. Work under close supervision, exercising limited latitude/independent judgment. The work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

  1. Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
  2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
  3. No travel required.

Education and Experience

  1. HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in the area of responsibility.
