About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team. As a member of our Diabetic education Centre team, you will provide a range of PHC services, including health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. Your expertise may also be required to support individuals living with other chronic health problems, community development, and advocacy.

The successful candidate will provide health assessment, interventions, and follow-up in accordance with acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission, and objectives of the Registered Dietitians of Canada, the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association, the Department of Health and Wellness - Province of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

About You
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized university
  • Dietetic internship (a 1-year integrated or postgraduate program)
  • Current Membership in Nova Scotia Dietetic Association required
  • Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred
  • 1 year of diabetes-related experience required
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required
  • Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
  • Experience with group education
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing
  • Exhibits creative problem-solving ability; Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
Hours
  • Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Tentative start date of August 26, - 1 year term
  • Shifts include days, and may include evenings and weekends
Compensation and Incentives

$32.94 - $43.42 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
