About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team in the Nutrition and Food Services department. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities. You will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to support the nutritional health of patients, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized university, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists. A minimum of one year of experience as a dietitian is preferred, with inpatient clinical nutrition experience being an asset. The successful candidate will also have competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and experience counseling patients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and effective interpersonal and communication skills are also essential.

This is a long-assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly, from November 2024 to June 2025. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team, with the ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations. Competencies in other languages are an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. The hourly rate for this position is $32.94 - $43.42.
