Business Development and Growth Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development and Growth Specialist to join our team at Stikeman Elliott LLP. As a key player in our business development initiatives, you will work closely with senior management and the BD team to develop and execute our business development strategy, focusing on revenue generation, alignment with client value drivers, firm priorities, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth and expand our client base.
  2. Work closely with lawyers and other BD team members to draft compelling proposals and pitch materials, including budgets, fee proposals, and pricing for specific mandates and portfolios of work.
  3. Execute the planning and delivery of various business development activities and initiatives, including client presentations, events, CLEs, legal directory and award submissions, business intelligence research, analysis, and reporting, participation in industry conferences and associations, KPI tracking, and content development for client-facing materials, website, and other channels.
  4. Build effective relationships with partners, associates, clients, business services partners, and business community stakeholders to develop business opportunities.
  5. Identify new business prospects and areas of potential growth at the firm and work with partners to realize such opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with various key stakeholders, including the marketing and communications team, to facilitate the successful implementation of firm, office, and practice group strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  1. Law degree and a call to the bar.
  2. 2-5 years of experience providing legal services in a large law firm, with in-house experience an asset.
  3. Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical, financial, and business acumen.
  4. Solid understanding of the legal industry, core practice areas in a full-service law firm, and business law.
  5. Experience undertaking complex legal and/or business projects involving cross-functional and multi-location teams.
  6. Ability to effectively handle competing demands and timelines.
  7. Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to pivot and change direction as needed.
  8. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Strong attention to detail.
  10. Ability to influence others with tact and patience.
  11. Team player who can work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
