What is the opportunity?

The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Privacy to join its Global Privacy Office. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic advice and guidance on mitigating privacy risks. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the bank's compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

What will you do?

  • Develop and implement effective privacy compliance programs to ensure the bank's adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to key business partners and stakeholders on privacy-related matters.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments on new initiatives and third-party vendors to identify potential privacy risks.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy within the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and regulatory changes, providing guidance and training as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy, compliance, and regulatory risk management practices.
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Experience assessing design and operational effectiveness of internal controls.
  • At least 5 years of work experience interpreting and applying federal privacy law.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to respond to multiple demands and prioritize work activities.

Nice-to-have

  • Canadian certification with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or an equivalent credential is an asset.
  • Bilingual - French language.
