Superintendent of Schools

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Superintendent of Schools to lead our education team in the Dehcho Region. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring approved educational programs for our nine schools, while working closely with the Dehcho Divisional Education Council and the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement educational policies and programs that align with the Minister's directives and the Dehcho DEC's goals.
- Supervise and manage a team of administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure effective delivery of educational services.
- Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of funds and optimal outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, parents, and other stakeholders to promote education and well-being.
- Stay up-to-date with educational research, best practices, and legislative requirements to inform decision-making.
- Master's degree in Educational Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience and 8 years of administrative experience in a K-12 school setting.
- Eligibility for an NWT Teaching Certificate and NWT Principal Certification.
- Experience working in First Nations, Inuit, or Métis communities and knowledge of TRC calls to action in education and reconciliation.
- Senior administrative experience, such as Assistant Superintendent, Director of Instruction, or District Principal.
- Participation in training programs offered by the employer and other professional organizations.
