Job Title: Bookmobile Driver/Clerk

Reporting to the Manager, Public Services – Outreach, this position is responsible for driving the bookmobile and delivering circulation and outreach services to the community. The successful candidate will perform all circulation functions, including charging and discharging materials, opening and updating customer accounts, and reconciling cash and performing banking duties daily.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive the bookmobile and deliver circulation and outreach services to the community
  • Perform all circulation functions, including charging and discharging materials, opening and updating customer accounts, and reconciling cash and performing banking duties daily
  • Resolve customer account problems and queries
  • Assist customers with requests for materials and holds
  • Provide troubleshooting for hardware and software issues
  • Monitor and request supplies
  • Secure the property, including locking and unlocking library vehicles
  • Maintain materials as needed for repair and discard
  • Operate the Bookmobile
  • Perform basic daily vehicle log and inspections
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and debit machines
  • Provide information about library resources and services
  • Assist in maintaining an inviting and orderly library environment and providing prompt and efficient customer service
Qualifications:
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus two (2) years post-secondary training, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class D Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver's abstract as a condition of employment
  • Must have over one (1) year up to and including three (3) years of customer service experience
  • Availability to work on weekends is required for this position
  • Must be proficient in keyboarding and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must demonstrate excellent public service and customer relation skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational and communication skills
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the online catalogue and circulation modules
  • Respond willingly to flexibility in assignment and changing tasks in a team environment
  • Public Library experience is considered a definite asset
  • Ability to perform physical work, bend, reach, and lift up to 60 lbs
