Job Title: Automated Systems Specialist

The successful candidate will be a key member of our sales team, responsible for assisting with developing proposals and supporting the Director of Client Solutions and Sales Account Managers. Key directives include maintaining and servicing specific customer accounts and responding to requests for quotations in a timely and efficient manner, while delivering the PSI Vision and the PSI Entrepreneurial Culture.

Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Create comprehensive layout drawings for tote, carton, and pallet conveyor layouts using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for various RFQs. Develop animations and simulations using SolidWorks, FlexSim, etc., software.
  • Liaise between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and assembly manufacturing groups for technical assistance in developing concepts, processes, and provide assistance in estimating labor and material costs to meet customer requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain estimates of major material and equipment costs required for the preparation of budgets and proposals.
  • Participate in the elaboration of the list and schedule of technical deliverables for the complete project as well as the corresponding list of interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain pricing spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Work with external vendors to generate costings for selected equipment.
  • Prepare specifications and estimate costs.
  • Prepare draft budget and quotation proposals for review with the Director of Client Solutions, the Sales Manager, and Key Account Managers.
  • Prepare project-related equipment layouts.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and modeling.
  • Write technical specifications for both internal and external suppliers.
  • Technical follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction.
  • Identify technical risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects.
  • Provide proactive customer design support for integrated systems.
  • Work to specific project budgets and timelines provided by Director of Client Solutions.
  • Participate in customer RFQ review meetings, either on-site at the customers or in-house.
  • Work with the sales team within company sales process and software to progress leads, opportunities, and projects to completion.
  • Gather data, clarify scope, and work to an understood solution with customers, customer engineers, or consultants.
  • Select, size, and detail company products to suit customer requirements/specifications for processes.
  • Generate guiding documents to vendors and customers, such as data sheets, equipment layouts, tables, bills of material, etc., to make an RFQ or RFP.
  • Read, understand, comment upon customer-supplied project specifications to suit company products, goals, and processes.
  • Locate potential vendors and write RFQ for non-standard purchased components included in a project.
  • Create and update applications standard templates. Update and document system standards in a modular design for customized system solutions.
  • Create system sales tools to assist sales in qualifying system opportunities.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetings as needed for market research, technology advancements, customer follow-ups.
  • Attend weekly sales and company meetings.
  • Manage technical presentations at customer sites, trade shows, and meetings demonstrating how a product will meet customer needs.
  • Solve customer problems with professionalism.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per yearQualifications & Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Robotics is an asset.
  • Experience in creating layout drawings and design.
  • Ability to recommend and consistently administer policies and procedures to enhance department operations and support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to innovate; recommend PSI Data Base improvements on an ongoing basis to increase efficiency throughout the company.
  • Liaise between all departments as required to ensure on-time delivery of proposals and internal procedures are executed in a timely manner.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills, ability to promote positive relations with internal customers, partners, customers, and vendors, while being customer-focused.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Capable in costing and budgeting estimations.
