Activity Worker/Bus Driver

We are seeking a skilled Activity Worker/Bus Driver to join our team at the Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby, BC. As a key member of our Residential Care Services team, you will provide input into program activities and perform a variety of duties to assist with the social/recreational program.
Responsibilities- Carry out individual and group activities such as table games, current events, sports activities, music, special events, and community outings.
- Organize and maintain program activity areas.
- Accompany residents and/or transport one or more passengers by operating a vehicle and/or bus with a seating capacity between 11 and 25 passengers, including the driver on community outings, as required.
- Check residents have appropriate clothing/equipment for activities; confirm and coordinate proposed activity with nursing/medical staff; assist in embarking and disembarking passengers from the bus.
- Participate in team conferences, staff meetings, in-service education, and provide input to resident care conferences.
- Organize materials required for programs; maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materials and report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the Recreation Therapist.
- Access resident comfort funds for outings and shopping; complete documentation relating to use of resident monies.
- Provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrate related techniques as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses such as handicrafts, plus two (2) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class IV Driver's License (unrestricted) and/or Class III Driver's License with air brake endorsement as required per vehicle(s).
