Operations Trainee Job Description

Craftsman Collision is a leading auto body repair chain in Canada, committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. We're seeking a highly motivated Operations Trainee to join our team in Metro Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive experience for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support daily operations by leading teams to achieve stakeholder objectives in a safe, effective, and positive manner.
  • Manage shop operations in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW) principles.
  • Provide vacation coverage as required, under the direction of the regional operations manager.
  • Utilize company dashboards to identify and prioritize tasks, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, maintaining open communication with team members.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, including customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Write estimates and schedules repairs as required, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enter parts and sublet invoices into the Craftsman Management System, maintaining accurate records.
  • Apply expert knowledge of insurance and fleet-specific policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Support daily production, workflow, and quality control, ensuring high-quality repairs.
  • Work collaboratively with assigned Operations team members and Shop Manager to achieve operational goals, aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Proactively reduce effort, increasing touch time and reducing vehicle days in shop, through efficient use of systems and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines, promoting consistent application within the Company.
  • Identify training needs and suggest improvements to processes, enhancing team performance.
  • Support company standards in SPARKLE, safety, and security, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Represent and promote the Craftsman Collision brand in a positive manner, aligned with stated values, in all internal and external dealings.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Working towards I-CAR Platinum certification an asset.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and other decision-makers.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms, with the ability and willingness to learn new applications.
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development.
  • Interest in vehicles and the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions.

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 per year, along with 3 weeks of paid vacation per year. This position requires frequent travel across several locations in the Metro Vancouver area.
