Addictions Therapist Job Description

Employment and Social Development Canada is seeking a skilled Addictions Therapist to join their team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Addictions Therapist to provide counseling services to individuals struggling with addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with other healthcare professionals to evaluate treatment plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling and patient outcomes.
  • Interview clients, prepare case histories, and assess problems.
  • Record observations.
  • Review reports from healthcare professionals to determine patients' current and potential functioning levels.
  • Use standard psychological tests for assessment.
  • Write progress reports.
  • Prepare a treatment plan for each patient.
  • Provide education to clients regarding health promotion and injury prevention, management, and treatment.
  • Provide therapy.
  • Counsel individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social, and vocational development and adjustment.
  • Implement treatment plans.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Analyze patients during treatments.
  • Develop and implement counseling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them.
  • Counsel clients, provide therapy, and mediation services, and facilitate group sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Plan intervention programs.
  • Initiate, design, and implement specialized therapy programs.
  • Follow up results of counseling programs and clients' adjustment.
  • Administer standard psychological tests for assessment.
  • Interpret test results.
  • Prepare assessment, progress, follow-up, and court reports.
  • Liaise with community agencies or partners, and identify additional or alternative services and provide referrals.
Credentials
  • Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification.
  • Mental health first aid Certificate.
