Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Flood Risk Assessment Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing land use and development proposals to ensure they meet the necessary standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review private land subdivisions, crown land proposals, and development plans to assess flood risk and suitability
  • Provide design flood information to the public, consultants, and other government agencies
  • Collaborate with the Senior Flood Protection Planning Officer to develop and implement flood risk management strategies
  • Conduct field investigations and perform duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, land use planning, or resource management, or a comparable combination of education and experience
  • Experience in ESRI ArcGIS software, geospatial databases, and land use planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and correspondence
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Provincial Land Use and Water Policies, as well as the Water Resources Administration Act
  • Familiarity with by-laws and development plans
  • Ability to supervise and lead staff
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to travel throughout the Province of Manitoba and work extended hours as required.
