Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Flood Risk Assessment Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing land use and development proposals to ensure they meet the necessary standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review private land subdivisions, crown land proposals, and development plans to ensure compliance with flood risk management policies and regulations.
  • Provide design flood information on water bodies to the public, consultants, and other government agencies.
  • Assess and recommend on the suitability of land use and developments with respect to hazards such as flooding, erosion, and bank instability.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Flood Protection Planning Officer to develop and implement flood risk management strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, land use planning, or resource management, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in ESRI ArcGIS software, geospatial databases, applications, and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical and non-technical correspondence and reports.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, flood plain management, and flooding/erosion risk assessment.
