About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Services Officer to join our team at Native Counselling Services of Alberta. As a Legal Services Officer, you will play a critical role in providing legal support and services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain Rights and Obligations to Defendants: Provide clear and concise explanations of legal rights and obligations to defendants, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • MS Office Proficiency: Utilize MS Office software to manage and maintain accurate records, reports, and documents.
  • Provincial and Territorial Court Experience: Possess experience working in Provincial and Territorial Courts, with a strong understanding of court procedures and protocols.
  • Criminal Record Check and Driving Record Check: Conduct thorough criminal record checks and driving record checks to ensure the safety and security of our clients and staff.
  • Valid Driver's Licence and Own Transportation: Possess a valid driver's licence and own reliable transportation to travel to various locations as required.
  • Public Transportation Available: Familiarity with public transportation options to ensure accessibility to clients and staff.
  • Fast-Paced Environment and Tight Deadlines: Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail and Large Caseload: Maintain a high level of attention to detail while managing a large caseload, ensuring accuracy and quality in all work.
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication: Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and Judgement: Demonstrate flexibility and sound judgement in decision-making, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Client Focus and Dependability: Prioritize client needs and demonstrate dependability in all interactions, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
