About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a correctional facility setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Primary Care Services: Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments, and take medical histories to evaluate patients' physical and mental health.
  • Order Diagnostic Tests: Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures as needed to inform patient care.
  • Prescribe Medications: Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary to manage patient conditions.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provide Health Education: Educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience: Experience in a correctional facility or similar setting is an asset.
  • Licensure: Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by the province/territory of work.
  • Certifications: Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant areas.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Correctional facility setting with a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and kneel as required.
  • Security Clearance: Must obtain and maintain a criminal record check.
