Key Responsibilities
  • Health Promotion and Education
    • Develop and implement health promotion programs to educate inmates on healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention.
    • Provide health education to inmates on various topics, including nutrition, exercise, and mental health.
  • Medical Care
    • Conduct medical assessments and examinations to diagnose and treat various health conditions.
    • Order laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures as needed.
    • Prescribe medications and treatments as authorized by the facility's medical director.
  • Case Management
    • Develop and implement individualized care plans for inmates with complex health needs.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for inmates.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Master's degree in nursing or a related field.
    • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the province of Ontario.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in a correctional or similar setting.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
