Mobility Support Specialist

Hillside Pines, a person-first long-term care home, seeks a skilled Mobility Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting the mobility and quality of life goals of our Elder residents.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of our Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist to develop and implement individualized restorative and maintenance programs. This will include walking, exercising, range of motion, and activities of daily living.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out restorative programs with Elders, including walking, exercising, and range of motion activities.
  • Working with Elders to enhance their quality of life through sensory, reminiscence, and other programs.
  • Educating and supporting Care Partners, Elders, and family members on transfers, equipment, and other areas within our scope of practice.
  • Assisting with the update of care plan sections, transfer logs, and communicating changes to Care Partners.
  • Assisting Elders with meals as needed.
  • Ensuring safety equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, transfer belts, and slings, are checked monthly and in good working condition.
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment related to transfers or offloading.

Qualifications:

  • OTA/PTA diploma or equivalent education.
  • A keen interest in working with seniors in long-term care.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and time management skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to learn and work independently when trained.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and effective oral and written communication.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, iPads, and other software or equipment aimed at enhancing the lives of Elders.
  • Understanding and commitment to Hillside Pines' Mission, Vision, Values, and the Eden Alternative philosophy.

HOURS OF WORK

The schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet the wellbeing goals and needs of our Elder residents.
