Functional Mobility Assistant

Hillside Pines, a person-first long-term care home, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Functional Mobility Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting the mobility and quality of life goals of our residents.
Job Summary:
The Functional Mobility Assistant will work under the direction of our Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist to develop and implement individualized restorative and maintenance programs for our residents. This will include walking, exercising, range of motion, and activities of daily living. You will also work with residents to enhance their quality of life through sensory, reminiscence, and other programs.
Responsibilities:
- Implement restorative programs under the direction of the PT and OT, including walking, exercising, and range of motion activities.
- Work with residents to enhance their quality of life through sensory, reminiscence, and other programs.
- Educate and support Care Partners, residents, and family members on transfers, equipment, and other areas within our scope of practice.
- Assist in updating care plan sections, transfer logs, and communicating changes to Care Partners.
- Assist residents with meals as needed.
- Ensure safety equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, and transfer belts, are checked monthly and in good working condition.
- Maintain inventory of equipment related to transfers or offloading.
Qualifications:
- OTA/PTA diploma or equivalent education.
- Experience working with seniors in long-term care.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and time management skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to learn and work independently when trained.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and effective communication.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and other software and equipment used to enhance resident care.
- Understanding and commitment to Hillside Pines' Mission, Vision, Values, and the Eden Alternative philosophy.
Working Hours:
The schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet the wellbeing goals and needs of our residents.
