Job Summary

WoodGreen is seeking a skilled Housing Operations Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Housing & Homelessness Services Unit, you will play a vital role in helping individuals and families find and maintain stable housing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Property Management: Administer rent-geared-to-income (RGI) for all tenants, including annual income reviews and required notifications and/or RGI calculations.
  • Intake Management: Facilitate background checks, generate leases, and orientation for new tenants.
  • Rent Collection and Arrears Management: Collect rent, establish payment schedules, and follow up on LTB Notices.
  • Building Maintenance: Work with building services to ensure units and building facilities are well-maintained.
  • Tenant Education: Educate tenants on basic and preventative maintenance issues and their responsibilities in maintaining their apartment.
Housing Administration & Tenant Relations
  • Assessment and Problem Resolution: Conduct assessments and assist tenants in identifying issues and problem areas, and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Tenant Engagement: Facilitate, support, and encourage tenant engagement in the ongoing management of their building and participation in tenant community.
  • Housing Information and Support: Provide tenants with necessary housing information, including their rights and responsibilities.
  • Conflict Resolution and Mediation: Intervene in crisis/conflict situations and mediate disputes as it pertains to their tenancy.
  • Eviction Prevention: Work from an eviction prevention model to support tenants to maintain housing through regular follow up, case conference meetings, and liaising pertinent supports to tenants.
Community Development Programming
  • Community Building Programs: Develop community building programs to engage residents, encourage social interaction and inclusivity, and to support empowerment and self-sufficiency.
  • Social Recreational Needs Assessment: Assess social recreational needs of tenants.
  • Program Planning and Delivery: Work with a team to plan and deliver community programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in social services with supporting individuals who have a history of street involvement and/or individuals with low income.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act, the Housing Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Property management experience, including lease administration, rent collection, and unit turnover management. Experience with group facilitation and an understanding of group dynamics.
