Position Overview

FortisBC is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Contractor Safety Management team. This role requires a strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

In this position, you will work closely with our contractor community to ensure compliance with our contractor safety management program and regulatory requirements. Your portfolio may include developing and implementing safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating hazards
  • Provide training and guidance to contractors on safety procedures and protocols
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to support the contractor safety management program
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of contractor safety management practices and identify opportunities for improvement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field
  • 4-7 years of recent experience in occupational health and safety
  • Relevant OH&S certification (e.g. CRSP, CRST)
  • Ability to travel frequently for work and a valid B.C. driver's license
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
