Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Building Operations Specialist to join our team at Clarity Hiring. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control property equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure safe operation of all facility components, including Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, HVAC equipment, emergency generators, and life safety systems.
  • Familiarize yourself with WHMIS and OH&S policies and implement them in your work activities.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures at all times and maintain building standards and efficiencies.
  • Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work, including inspections, tests, and record keeping for chemical treatment of fluid systems.
  • Monitor central HVAC and building-related systems and perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Seasonally shutdown and startup heating/cooling systems, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Monitor the Building Automation System for operating trends and adjust set points and operating schedules as needed.
  • Record monthly utility check meter readings and report anomalies in consumption trends.
  • Test run and log emergency generator and fire pumps according to schedule.
  • E nsure monitoring and control of all life safety equipment, including fire alarm and sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, standpipe connections, fire doors, etc.
  • Assist with coordinating access for Third Party service providers and shutting down building systems for tenant improvements and modifications.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and perform or coordinate unscheduled repairs.
  • Report deficiencies and issues relating to the building envelope controls, equipment, and mechanical systems to management.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of direct work experience in building operations/facility management preferred.
  • Working towards completion of BES I/II, FMA, SMT, or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, emergency power generators, plumbing, etc., is essential.
  • Able to understand and interpret specifications and related system drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Familiar with automated preventative maintenance programs and building automation systems.
  • Familiar with Provincial Health & Safety Legislation (WHMIS, Occupational H&S Act).
  • Physically fit enabling reasonable lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, walking.
  • Working at heights certification required; will train.
  • Class G driver's license required.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends, as being on a rotation on-call schedule is required.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
