About the Role:
PRT Growing Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at our Campbell River location. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of greenhouse and open compound seedling operations, ensuring nursery efficiency and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise greenhouse and open compound seedling production, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
- Assist the Nursery Manager with planning and achieving production targets, including sowing, thinning, lifting, blackout, cold storage, and shipping.
- Ensure proper maintenance of the facility and equipment, including routine maintenance and repairs.
- Finalize inventory and maintain accurate records of production and inventory levels.
- Manage labor force, including supervising and training nursery workers.
- Correspond with customers, ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Follow and enforce safe work practices, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement, promoting a culture of excellence within the team.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement, ensuring continuous improvement and growth.
About the Team:
You will be part of a dynamic and experienced team of nursery professionals, working together to achieve our goals and objectives. Our team is committed to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction, and we are looking for someone who shares these values.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 or more years of horticulture or crop production experience, including experience in a leadership role.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Capability of performing manual work, both indoor and outdoor, in varying weather conditions.
- Proficient understanding of production processes, quality control principles, and safety regulations.
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct a root cause analysis.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Robust computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
