About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Associate - Quantitative Researcher to join our Trading Research and Analytics team at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our three core research pillars: cross-asset cost modeling, cross-asset liquidity analysis, and trading optimization across Equities, Futures, Rates, FX, and Credit.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Proactively identify areas for improvement and introduce innovative ideas through hypothesis-driven experimentation, leading to trade cost reductions.
  2. Develop and refine multi-asset market impact models that quantify execution footprints across global markets.
  3. Research and create multi-asset real-time trading signals to support traders in achieving low-cost execution.
  4. Collaborate with technology teams to design and implement a multi-asset data warehouse for comprehensive research and analysis.
  5. Present research findings to key stakeholders with clarity and impact.
  6. Partner with traders to deepen understanding of market structure, liquidity, and trading workflows across asset classes.

Requirements

  1. Undergraduate or advanced degree in Statistics, Engineering, Finance or relevant fields.
  2. Minimum 3 years' experience with at least 2+ years of experience in a Finance/Trading oriented role or equivalent.
  3. Trading research and TCA experience is an asset.
  4. Knowledge in market microstructure research & modeling across Equities, Futures, Rates, FX, and Credit.
  5. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, C++, etc.
  6. Entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to drive scalability & execute on a research agenda.
  7. Experience utilizing quantitative techniques (e.g. statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, machine learning or others).
  8. Proficient with visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc).
  9. Fluent communication skills and ability to explain and simplify technical concepts.
  10. Team player attitude and highly motivated / self-starter.
