Occupational Therapist Specialist

The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care and providing consultation services to clients, caregivers, and family members. As a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, this position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
This is a dynamic role that involves assessing patients' needs, establishing individualized treatment plans, and prioritizing issues on a daily basis. The Occupational Therapist must be able to use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, this role requires education and support for clients, families, and caregivers, as well as the ability to interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess patients' needs and establish individualized treatment plans
- Provide consultation services to clients, caregivers, and family members
- Prioritize issues on a daily basis using clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Educate and support clients, families, and caregivers
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers, and staff
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
$33.96 - $42.90 per hour, plus benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
