Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Burnaby Hospital in British Columbia, Canada. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting.

About the Role

In this dynamic position, you will assess patients with varying complexities of illness requiring minor surgical procedures, diagnostic endoscopy procedures, or interventional therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Your expertise will be essential in making nursing diagnoses, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and collect information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment skills.
  • Makes nursing diagnoses and determines whether conditions can be improved or resolved by appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Observe patient acuity for significant changes in patient condition and intervene to provide and manage care as necessary.
  • Collaborate with patients, families/care givers, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
  • Participate in nursing committees, care conferences, and councils as assigned or agreed upon with the Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years recent relevant clinical experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
Competencies and Skills
  • Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain intravenous therapy.
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/care givers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, and patient advocacy.

Estimated Salary Range:
