Health Care Social Worker

The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.
Social Workers at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience is required, with previous palliative care experience being an asset. Grief & Bereavement Training and experience working in community-based settings are also preferred.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach, complete biopsychosocial assessments, and possess excellent communication skills. You will also be able to assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies, and may be required to travel to other sites.
Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent, full-time (100%) position with 75 hours biweekly. The hourly rate is $42.89. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
