NOC Specialist

At Rogers Communications, we're looking for a skilled NOC Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Network Operations Centre, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the stability and availability of our national network platforms and associated services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 operational support for Rogers Core Networks and Services, supporting residential and business customers 24/7/365 in a rotating schedule.
- Meet Key Performance Indicator SLAs for customer-impacting incidents.
- Effectively manage and drive incident bridges, performing the incident commander role to drive incidents to resolution and ensure all required resources are engaged and focused.
- Monitor network management tools to ensure availability of Rogers Services is maximized by monitoring network alarms and health.
- Ensure Change and Incident Management policies are enforced and strictly adhered to.
- Monitor change control activities to ensure all planned network events are transparent to the end customer.
- Act as an interface to Network Operations Groups, Engineering, 3rd Party Carriers, Partners, and Customer-Facing Groups.
- Perform disaster recovery and pre-plan implementation.
- Assist in the implementation and testing of new services and platforms, ensuring successful completion of assigned projects.
- Take action to resolve incidents, utilizing Method of Restore instructions.
- Document process, procedures, training, and dispatch guidelines.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree or diploma with five years of experience in Telecommunication Technologies or a related discipline.
- Diagnostic, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Strong working knowledge of Optical Transport Switching and Fibre Technology, including DWDM, CWDM, SONET, OTN, CDC, DCN, and others.
- Comprehensive knowledge of platforms such as CIENA, Fujitsu, Nokia, and Ribbon.
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Core Networks, including Routing and Switching Protocols, Transport Optical Switching and Fibre technology, GPON.
- Experience troubleshooting Fibre Infrastructure, OTDR Testing, Power Meters, End-to-End Testing, etc.
- Excellent Incident Management abilities, with a focus on communication and driving incidents to resolution.
- Self-motivated and highly accountable, with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple and changing priorities, with attention to work quality and efficiency.
- Core Competencies: Accountability, Communication, Customer Focus, Innovation, Teamwork, Leadership.
- Ability to understand and adhere to Rogers' processes and procedures, including Health and Safety.
- Bilingualism (English/French/Other) would be an asset.
