About the Role

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with pathologists and laboratory professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen procurement, receipt, and processing tasks.
  • Enter data accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare media, reagents, and smears as required.
  • Clerical duties and loading specimens on analyzers.

You will be working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, adhering to strict safety and infection prevention protocols. A strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently are essential for this role.

Requirements
  • Recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent.
  • CSMLS certification and registration.
  • Willingness to travel to local indigenous communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle sharp instruments.
  • Ability to adapt to updates/changes in operating procedures.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience preferred.
