Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Operator to join our team at Plan Group. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the building's systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
  • System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance and diagnose technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Systems Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, HVAC, and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Vendor Management: Escort and supervise mechanical and electrical vendors on-site to ensure seamless operations.
  • Maintenance Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Computer System Interaction: Interact with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to optimize facility operations.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared to respond to emergencies and provide expertise to minimize disruptions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance facility efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience working in mission-critical facilities, such as data centers.
  • Facilities Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, HVAC, and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Certifications: BES and relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to promptly and effectively troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented with a focus on optimal system function and thorough maintenance documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
Work Conditions
  • Location: Markham, ON
  • Shift Schedule: Rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, and nights
  • Compensation: $30-$35/hour (open to renegotiation based on experience)
