About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disability Claims Examiner to join our team at OTIP RAEO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing contractual and medical information on new long-term disability claims, while managing an ongoing block of active, complex claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement case management plans for long-term disability and life waiver claims
  • Engage with members, affiliates, and stakeholders to provide timely and efficient follow-ups on decisions and rehabilitation opportunities
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of claims, meeting productivity, quality, and service goals
  • Provide ongoing education to members, affiliates, and stakeholders on LTD benefit processes and contractual requirements
  • Represent OTIP in examinations of discovery and work in partnership with Rehabilitation Consultants to support members in their return to work efforts
  • Collaborate with Disability Benefits Coordinators to obtain claim information and ensure benefit payments are accurate and approvals are processed in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Three to five years' experience in insurance or long-term disability claim adjudication
  • Post-secondary education in health sciences or a related field
  • CDMP (Certified Disability Management Professional) certification an asset
  • Strong understanding of insurance principles and practices, industry standards, legal and contractual obligations, and claims investigation and assessment procedures
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating superior oral and written communication skills, and solid organizational skills
