We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient records.
Key Responsibilities- Coding and abstracting personal health information records in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
- Inputting data into the Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Database (NSAPD) and maintaining accurate records.
- Analyzing patient records to ensure compliance with Health Centre Standards.
- Collaborating with administrative and medical staff to ensure seamless communication and data exchange.
- Graduate from a recognized Health Information Management (HIM) program.
- Certificate of registration in the Canadian College of Health Information Management and eligibility to use the CHIM credential and title Certified HIM Professional.
- Experience with current coding practices and computerized abstracting, required.
- Experience with ICD-10-CA/CCI, an asset.
- Experience with Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Coding preferred.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills, required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with administrative and medical staff required.
- Understanding of privacy principles and confidentiality.
- Competency in other languages will be considered an asset.
