About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Youth Engagement Coordinator - Public Health Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. In this role, you will work closely with our Health Promoting Schools (HPS) partnerships to facilitate and support youth engagement.

As a Youth Engagement Coordinator - Public Health Specialist, you will work closely with our Health Promoters, Public Health teams, and other partners to support schools and communities in implementing school and community-based, HPS and youth-focused wellbeing action plans.

About You
  • We are looking for a candidate with a Baccalaureate degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education, Community Youth Development, or a related field, with relevant experience.
  • A Masters' degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years related job experience.
  • Experience in working with youth, including developing and implementing youth engagement, peer mentoring, knowledge sharing, and skills building strategies.
  • Experience in planning, development, and evaluation of health promotion policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of population health and health promoting schools approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods.
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting with a strong focus on school settings.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with schools and communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community development and mobilization.
Hours
  • Permanent Full Time /% FTE /70 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$44.10 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
