Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Residential team in Iqaluit, NU. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and maintenance of our properties, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Northview's Health and Safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Perform drywall repairs, painting preparation and painting, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, and other maintenance tasks as required.
  • Plumbing and Electrical Repairs: Perform minor plumbing repairs, including plunging toilets, bathtubs, and sinks, and minor electrical repairs, including replacing and repairing electrical locks and checking security systems.
  • Renovations and Upgrades: Assist with and/or perform suite renovations and other minor upgrades, including minor renovation of kitchen cabinets, doors, cupboards, and windows.
  • Locks and Security: Repair and replace locks, and maintain security systems.
  • Appliances and Equipment: Repair and maintain stoves and refrigerators.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to and prioritize work orders and handle emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Snow Removal and Grounds Maintenance: Remove snow from walkways and common areas, as needed.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Deliver notices to building residents and post notices in common areas, as required.
  • Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct building inspections and maintain tools and equipment.
  • On-Call Rotation: Work as part of an on-call rotation team responding to work orders and emergencies.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Resident Services: Provide resident services and assistance as required, and maintain good resident relations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in building maintenance.
  • Criminal Record Check: Able to provide a criminal record check that is free of relevant convictions.
  • Driver's License: If using a company vehicle, provide annual drivers abstract and proof of a valid driver's license.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work with, and climb stairs with equipment and supplies.
