Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Environmental Services Director to join our team at Errinrung Long-term Care Home in Thornbury, ON. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.


Key Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the home, ensuring a safe and clean environment for residents and staff alike. The Environmental Services Director will also oversee the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments, managing budgets, inventory, and quality control measures.


Daily Routine Responsibilities:



  • Monitor and maintain all areas of the facility, identifying maintenance needs and conducting repairs as required.
  • Document and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs to equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Refer specialized work to outside contractors and monitor their performance.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed to maintain the overall upkeep of the home, including groundskeeping.

Management Responsibilities:



  • Support the Executive Director in hiring and performance management of departmental staff.
  • Supervise contractors' work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, inventory, and supplies.
  • Participate in leadership team activities, including teams and committees.
  • Manage the quality and quantity of services provided by departmental staff.
  • Maintain records, statistics, and reports according to home policies and regulations.

Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will possess a two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or a related field. They must have knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems. Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is essential, with formal training in building maintenance being an asset. Health and safety certification is also preferred. Knowledge of evidence-based practices and experience in long-term care settings are additional assets. The ability to communicate effectively in English and French is preferred, as well as the ability to complete a vulnerable sector check and meet physical and safety requirements of the job.


Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year


This estimate is based on industry standards and may vary depending on qualifications and experience.
