About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Horticulture Technician to join our team at Growcer Inc. in Western Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation and ongoing technical support of our hydroponic farms across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install new Growcer farms and provide training to customers on effective operation
  • Comply with and train customers on safe operation of tools and equipment, cleaning techniques, and personal protective equipment
  • Be involved in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, general system maintenance, and installation of new equipment
  • Travel nationally and internationally to assist with installation and training of new customers
  • Visit existing customer farms to complete project audits, re-train customers on standard operating procedures, and share findings with the Growcer team
  • Maintain knowledge of hydroponic growing techniques and related technologies
  • Data collection work for experiments

Requirements:

  • Strong technical and troubleshooting ability, good organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, written and interpersonal
  • Ability to work independently and manage own priorities, self-starter attitude
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting small equipment, controlled environment agriculture control systems, and installation of irrigation and lighting systems
  • Comfortable working with common software such as Google Docs, Spreadsheets, and Dropbox
  • Safe use and care of common power tools, hardware, and related equipment
  • Indigenous and First Nations experience highly valued

Education and Experience:

  • College or University degree in Horticulture or similar field
  • 3-5+ years' experience in a related field, or equivalent time in related work experience

Travel and Physical Requirements:

  • 40-50% travel, expect to be on customer sites for 1-2 times per month for 5-7 days
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance

Language and Driver's License:

  • English required, Indigenous or First Nations language and/or French considered an asset
  • Driver's license required for travel to customer sites

Assets:

  • Experience in construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, food safety, and/or project management
  • Experience using instant messaging software for internal communication
  • Experience working in a startup environment
