About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Support Professional to join our team at the Niagara Catholic District School Board.

This is a casual, on-call position that requires flexibility and a willingness to support students with diverse needs in various educational settings.

Job Description

The successful candidate will assist special need students in achieving personal, social, and academic development under the direction of the classroom teacher. This includes:

  • Communicating with deaf-blind persons using American Sign Language (ASL) and manual forms of English;
  • Supporting students in developing skills for effective participation in the classroom setting;
  • Providing remedial assistance in all subjects to facilitate integration into regular classrooms;
  • Working as part of a team to support curriculum requirements;
  • Assisting with student conduct and supervising students during activities;
  • Dispensing medication and maintaining accurate records;
  • Providing routine duties and documentation, including health reports and log notes;
  • Providing personal care as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A successful completion of the Intervenor Diploma from a Community College;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and oral skills;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (an asset);
  • Ability to work with teachers and support students in an integrated setting.
Work Environment

This is a varied role that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be working in different educational settings, including elementary and secondary schools within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.
