Commercial Real Estate Transaction Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Real Estate Transaction Coordinator to join our Toronto office and support our Commercial Real Estate practice group at Miller Thomson LLP.
This role will be responsible for coordinating the execution of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasing, municipal applications and agreements, due diligence, and title matters. The ideal candidate will have varied real estate experience handling complex commercial real estate transactions with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & Revising- Draft documentation and correspondence related to commercial real estate transactions;
- Compile information and draft written reports, opinions, and accounting to clients, as well as monitor and follow up on undertakings and escrow conditions.
- Review and analyze agreements of purchase and sale, credit facility and loan commitments, contracts, agreements, leases, opinions, municipal applications, requisitions on title, and responses to requisitions;
- Prioritize and monitor transaction components, including conducting, documenting, reviewing, analyzing, verifying, monitoring, summarizing, and reporting on due diligence for transactions, including title searching, corporate and ancillary searches, and off-title enquiries;
- Calculate, draft, and analyze statements of adjustments and other financial documentation and data, and handle the receipt and disbursal of funds for transactions and all financial reporting requirements;
- Complete transaction closings, including scheduling closing, expediting matters where necessary to meet deadlines, coordinating the receipt of closing documentation and funds, reviewing, revising, and finalizing closing documentation, conducting and analyzing title search requirements, completing registration of documentation, problem-solving, liaising with clients and solicitors in charge, and negotiating escrow arrangements and undertakings in accordance with delegated responsibility provided by solicitors.
- Consult and collaborate with solicitors and clients to receive and implement instructions at onset and during transactions;
- Negotiate, communicate, and consult with solicitors for other sides of transactions as well as governmental professionals, in accordance with delegated responsibility provided by solicitors in charge;
- Flag and anticipate potential issues and communicate them to solicitors in charge;
- Problem-solve with respect to transactional matters, including title and title issues;
- Collaborate with support staff and supervise assistants.
- Research and interpret legal and technical procedures, statutes, and regulations applicable to the area of practice.
The successful candidate will have a Law Clerk Diploma; potentially also an Undergraduate degree and/or higher (preferred); 6-10 years of experience or higher; varied real estate experience handling complex commercial real estate transactions with a minimum of supervision in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, requiring excellent written and verbal communication, as well as excellent organizational and analytical skills. Solid title-searching ability, and good drafting and mathematical skills are also required. This position is expected to earn approximately $90,000 per year.
