Job Summary

The York Region District School Board seeks a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. As a strategic generalist, you will play a key role in overseeing and managing HR and labour relations functions across the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the grievance and resolution process, ensuring timely and fair outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with union representatives, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Provide advice and assistance to managers and administrators on collective agreement interpretation, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
  • Lead and conduct investigations, gathering and analyzing evidence to inform recommendations.
  • Support the job evaluation process, ensuring accurate and fair assessments of job roles and responsibilities.
  • Participate in and lead assigned district and joint committees, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Deliver training and development modules to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of superior organizational, management, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, taking initiative and balancing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Thorough understanding of HR standards and best practices, collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, investigations, human rights, and employment legislation.
  • Relevant education and experience, including a degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, and 7 years of progressive experience in human resources and labour relations.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and completion of investigation training.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to obtain a criminal record check clearance.
