Perinatal Nurse Leader

BC Women's Hospital is seeking a Perinatal Nurse Leader to coordinate staffing coverage and provide supervision, guidance, and expert clinical support to the nursing and support staff within the Acute Perinatal Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of nurses and support staff, promoting adherence to professional and clinical nursing standards.
  • Act as a resource to help coordinate the activities of the area, communicating and planning with unit-based charge nurses and primary care providers.
  • Monitor hospital utilization, overseeing activity within the different areas of the program through regular unit-based rounds.
  • Resolve problems utilizing the nursing process related to patient care, ensuring quality patient care.
  • Maintain a safe environment for women, families, and staff, following established emergency procedures and safety practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Five years of recent perinatal experience, including a minimum of one year's recent, related experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity.
  • Current CPR/NRP certification and Fetal Health Assessment certification (BCWH or equivalent).
