Director of Life Enrichment

Welcome to Southbridge Care Homes, a leading provider of long-term care and retirement services in Ontario. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Director of Life Enrichment.

About the Role

This is a temporary, full-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director. As a Director of Life Enrichment, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that promote the Residents' Bill of Rights.
  • Recruit and supervise recreation staff, ensuring a high level of priority and best use of capabilities.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs, including recruiting, orientating, directing, and evaluating volunteers and volunteer activities.
  • Facilitate Residents' Council activities in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Participate in budget preparation and maintain departmental budgets, orders, and supplies.
  • Complete timely, individualized, and up-to-date resident assessments and resident profiles at admission.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in communicating with residents, planning individualized programs, and grouping residents of similar backgrounds and interests.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or other related field from a community college or university.
  • Experience in long-term care in developing/leading programs for residents with varied physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources within the service area and ability to relate to them in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to ongoing education to meet resident needs and legislative requirements.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge with technology in programming for virtual or remote communications such as Zoom, Skype, Facetime, using different devices.
