The Underwriting Supervisor - Personal Lines is a leadership role that oversees the daily operations of a personal lines underwriting team. This position requires strong leadership skills to provide guidance and mentorship to team members, while also ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and feedback to team members to enhance their performance and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Identify opportunities for employee development and provide support and mentorship to employees.
- Collaborate with Underwriting Excellence to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and participate in the interview process for new hires.
- Communicate decisions and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Influence team members to achieve business objectives and support the development of business change initiatives.
- Consult with Management on underwriting and staffing matters.
- Participate in department strategic planning, including goal setting.
- Contribute to Large Loss Reviews, providing feedback and recommendations on underwriting decisions.
- Foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including networking at industry events.
Qualifications
- Five years of experience in the Property and Casualty industry.
- Post-secondary education or related business experience.
- Completed a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership skills to positively influence team members and provide direction.
- Prior leadership experience is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong customer service skills.
