Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health, Safety and Environment Student to join our team at PCL Construction Management Inc.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the HSE Professional with inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Manage documents, including data entry, SMC entries, and filing, to maintain accurate records and facilitate efficient operations.
  • Support the orientation of new employees to ensure a smooth transition and effective onboarding process.
  • Develop training materials to enhance the knowledge and skills of the workforce in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Review and analyze paperwork, including PSI, tailgate meetings, and safework procedures, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain the environmental program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Analyze site-specific trends and incidents, and report findings to the district to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
  • Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
  • Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications
  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet compliance.
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
  • Ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Access to a clean, reliable vehicle.
