About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Subject Matter Expert - Solution Management to join our team at Canadian National Railway Company. As a key member of our Information & Technology team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects and the maintenance of our rail systems.
Main Responsibilities
As a Technical Subject Matter Expert - Solution Management, you will be responsible for:
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to project teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Developing and maintaining documentation standards and project timelines, milestones, and stakeholder updates.
- Designing, testing, implementing, documenting, and supporting rail PTC and Train Control System, including CAD, BOS, On-Board, and other related systems.
- Coaching and mentoring assigned staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Leading problem investigation and follow-up resolution to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensuring compliance with all appropriate CN IT standards, including Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, and others.
- Automating and optimizing support tasks to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Ensuring that established schedules and budgets are met for specified projects and acting as a technical resource in the area of Solution Management.
- Interfacing with rail traffic controllers, mechanical, S&C personnel, as well as transportation officers.
- Deploying and managing software versions for various on-board components for freight operations.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- ITIL certification (ITIL Foundations 2011).
- Detail-oriented and results-driven with excellent communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Service Manager and UCMDB.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint administration.
- Experience with safety-critical system support and a good understanding of Positive Train Control (PTC) architecture.
