Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the safety and well-being of our members, and delivering high-quality swim lessons and aquatic programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide lifeguarding services and ensure the safety of all members
  • Instruct swim lessons and aquatic programs, adhering to YMCA standards and principles
  • Perform cleaning duties and tasks as required to maintain a clean and welcoming facility
  • Assist with the delivery of aquatic programs and special events
  • Work collaboratively with other lifeguards and instructors to maintain a safe and efficient environment
Requirements
  • Current Standard First Aid certificate
  • CPR level C and AED certificate
  • National Lifeguard - Pool Option
  • Swim Instructor certification or equivalent
  • Experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor - preferred
  • YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent – preferred
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) or equivalent
  • Aquatic related certifications from a recognized certifying body - preferred
  • High-school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of Grade 10
  • Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search

  • Knowledge of Lifesaving Society standards, policies, principles, and program expectations
  • Exceptionally sound judgment skills
  • Strong ability to work within and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
