About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team in the Adult Outpatient - Mental Health & Addictions department. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders.

You will work within a Stepped Care framework, guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline, current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body, and a minimum of two years' related experience. You will have in-depth knowledge of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction, and evidence-based interventions for the treatment of addiction.

You will also have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders, as well as skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy and psycho-educational groups. Experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts to individuals, families, and groups is also essential.

The successful candidate will be able to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
