Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist

The IWK Health Centre is seeking a skilled Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist to join our team. In this role, you will work with preschool-age children with autism and their families, providing assessment, intervention, and support to help them achieve their full potential. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of preschool-age children with autism and their families
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support the children's development and well-being
- Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to care
- Provide education and support to families to empower them to teach and support their child's development
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance the care we deliver
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Occupational Therapy profession in Nova Scotia
- Valid minimal Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle
- CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid
- Two years of recent experience working with children with autism and their families
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, including assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of intervention plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders
