About the Global Nutrition ClusterThe Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) is a holistic support platform for global nutrition actors at all levels to meet their needs during humanitarian emergencies. The purpose of the GNC is to help prevent and treat malnutrition in all its forms through strengthening the technical and coordination capacities of partners and countries, so they are better able to prepare for, respond to, and recover from nutrition emergencies within humanitarian crises.
About the RoleThe GNC Operations Team Coordinator, Programmes, will lead and coordinate all aspects of the GNC Operations Team, Programme Support, including oversight of the use of all GNC Operations Team resources, the provision of programme support, donor engagement, fundraising and project management, the strategic direction of the GNC Operations Team and working with partners in their overall involvement in the GNC.
Key Responsibilities- Programme and Team Management (55%):
- Oversee the functioning and coordination of the GNC Programme Team, including participating as an active member of the Programme Leadership Team and the Operations Management Group.
- Lead in developing the strategic direction of the Operations Team, including its procedures, processes, and partnerships in collaboration with the rest of the Operations Management Group, the Programme Leadership Team and the Technical Lead Agency Advisory Group.
- Provide leadership to specific, time-bound and prioritized projects identified in the GNC's strategy and annual work plan including, but not limited to, the GNC localization work, the GNC Consultant Roster and the development of regionally and locally owned technical support networks.
- Bring creativity and innovation to strengthen systems and processes improving efficiency and delivery of high-quality technical support and enhancement of GNC Operations Team services.
- Coordinate and engage with GNC partners, to increase their overall involvement in the GNC, as well as other technical assistance providers to ensure support requests are handled with the best possible resources.
- Explore and develop partnership opportunities to enhance the delivery of GNC services.
- Provide leadership to and direct management of the Deputy GNC Operations Team Coordinator, Program Officer, and Localisation Helpdesk and jointly support the management of the programme advisors.
- Support decision-making and troubleshooting for programme/technical support requests and webinars, addressing factors such as methods, personnel, administration and funding.
- Periodically coordinate support requests when necessary as well as to ensure the smooth functioning of the GNC Operations Team as a whole system.
- Lead and facilitate the Technical Lead Agency Advisory Group.
- Jointly oversee, support and coordinate the functioning of GNC working groups, ensuring smooth running focused on high-quality nutrition response, informed by global best practices.
- Participate in up to three of the GNC working groups, potentially acting as co-chair when necessary, for a limited period of time.
- Seek and encourage opportunities for integration of the GNC Operations Team, bringing the programme and coordination teams closer together.
- Resource Mobilization, Donor Engagement, and Grant Management (35%):
- Actively engage and monitor for donor-funding opportunities in line with the resource mobilization strategies of Action Against Hunger Canada and the GNC and ensure costed planning for the Operations Team.
- Lead on the prioritization and the development of donor proposals.
- Oversee, review and input into donor reports (monthly, semi-annual, annual, etc.) according to donor grant guidelines and Action Against Hunger Canada and its International Network rules and regulations.
- Oversee the use of appropriate/devolved GNC resources by managing the budget, monitoring expenditure and ensuring all relevant agreements necessary for the smooth functioning of the GNC Operations Team are in place and up to date.
- Manage and coordinate partnerships, envisioning, negotiating and ensuring alignment between the technical aspects with administrative arrangements.
- Oversee GNC Operations Team monitoring and evaluation frameworks and provide input for their improvement.
- Engage with existing and new donors on a strategic level to strengthen partnerships, create funding opportunities and conduct regular briefings with donors on GNC Operations Team activities.
- Communications (10%):
- Raise the visibility of the GNC including internal and external communication and engagement, webinars/brochures, networking, etc., in alignment with the GNC communications teams.
- Represents the GNC Programme Team in networks and external fora, including attending meetings and conferences.
- Liaise with ACF Canada and ACF Network to raise the visibility of GNC and coordinate advocacy efforts as well as identify synergist opportunities to advance nutrition in emergency programming.
- General:
- Support Action Against Hunger Canada in establishing and achieving its organizational objectives.
- Adhere to and follow up on Action Against Hunger Canada and its International Network-specific policies, processes, and procedures, including but not limited to those related to staff management, financial management, reporting, and accountability.
- Attend planning sessions, team meetings and annual performance reviews as required.
- Ensure an ongoing process of personal and professional development and learning.
