Job Summary
The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Tier 1 or Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Geoscience of Critical Minerals for a Sustainable Future. This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join our team and contribute to the university's research and teaching mission.
About the Position
The successful candidate will be appointed as a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (Tier 2), or as a tenured faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level (Tier 1). The position will be in the College of Arts and Science, and the successful candidate will be nominated for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Canada Research Chair.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental research applicable to various stages in the life cycle of critical minerals, from mineral exploration through mine reclamation, or secondary sources of critical minerals including mining wastes.
- Develop collaborations with private and public sector partners, enhance existing expertise on energy and mineral resources, and support knowledge mobilization within and beyond academia.
- Contribute to research and teaching in the Department of Geological Sciences and help advance strategic priorities of the department, college, and university.
Qualifications
- PhD in the geosciences (Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Geoscience) or a closely related field.
- Outstanding research potential or demonstrate research excellence through academic recognition, impactful publications, successful partnerships, and trainee achievements.
- Demonstrate evidence of, or potential to, secure external research funding and exhibit capacity for effective undergraduate teaching and graduate training.
